Much to my shock, it transpired that my partner in crime had never been to Fishbone Wines and Restaurant. I’m not sure how this is possible. Fishbone Winery and Restaurant in Wilyabrup in the Margaret River Region has been serving some of regions best since 2015. Japanese inspired Korean fusion dishes, made to share and order more and more of.
Ideally located across the road from the Margaret River Chocolate Factory (dessert anyone?) Fishbone’s cellar door and restaurant are picture perfect. We did the right thing and got to Fishbone Wines 15 minutes before our booking, as we love nothing more than a good ol wine tasting before lunch. And boy oh boy do they have some wines that we love. Now, anyone who knows me knows that my blood type is chardonnay, but I do like to branch out when its a lunch treat. A few chardonnays had to be tasted for good measure, but we were blown away by the reserve semillon. Absolutely delicious! Lunch wine sorted.
On this occasion we were kid free, but if you do want to bring the grommets along; Fishbone’s beautiful fish tank will keep them entertained no end; and they have a wonderfully large enclosed lawn for the kids to run around on.
On to more important things…the food. This was probably my 5th or 6th visit to Fishbone winery so I had a list of dishes I knew we had to get. Gyoza, check. Beef tataki check, chicken karaage check, a range of yummy fresh sushi was a given and of course their soft shell crab rolls. Yum. I was a little sad to see that their bulgolgi fries were replaced by Japanese curry fries for summer. Nonetheless the Irish girl happily got stuck into the curry fries. Delicious!
Where is Fishbone wines? They are a fabulous 24 min drive from Bina Maya Yallingup Escape perfect for a winery lunch treat whilst you stay in luxury.
