Built by us from the ground up, Bina Maya Yallingup Escape is a family-owned  and operated business run by Tim and Sara Greay. Our award winning forest retreat was built to appeal to guests who want more out of their self-catering holiday.

The significance of “Bina Maya”

‘Bina’ is not only our street name, in local Aboriginal Noongar language means ‘light of the morning’ and ‘Maya’ means house. The name ‘Bina Maya’ aims to acknowledge and pay respect to the Aboriginal connection to land, celebrating the stunning light that filters over Geographe Bay, through the valley to the property.

Forest retreat Yallingup

So we found a forest…..

This beautiful Margaret River Region was always going to be our final destination. After years of travel, careers, moving from one end of the country to the other, it was time to plant some roots. And what better place to do that then in a forest!

We stumbled across the most stunning secluded forest block back in 2014. Walking through the 7.5 acre land, we just knew, there was something magical we had to bring to light. After mountains of approvals, the birth of our 3 boys in between; our dream to build a self-catering retreat began to take shape. In 2017 with legend and close friend luxury builder Adrian Zorzi and local architect Theo Matthews with a brief to be “inspired by the surrounding forest and spectacular light” the build began. We have been operating since Feb 2018 and have been blown away by the response from our guests. So much so, we completed an additional villa on the property this May 2022.

How is Bina Maya different…..

We know luxury…we are 5-star rated by Star-Ratings Australia and our build has won Australian Master Builders Award (2020).

When we say we’re self-catering we mean it. And to us that means a laundry (because who wants to go home with a suitcase full of dirty cloths…) and a fully equipped kitchen (with oven), cupboards are full (and we mean full) of EVERYTHING you could need to cook. Why? Because we are here for the food. When you’re so inspired by some of the world’s finest produce and food experiences sometimes a holiday cookoff feast with friends is what you need to do. Want a comprehensive list of what we provide? Just ask Sara…she went nuts… the kitchens are like her own.

Self-catering does not mean no service….you don’t have to cook the whole time…or at all if you don’t want to. Have breakfast/grazings delivered, have meals on arrival so you don’t need to worry about cooking after the drive from Perth. Have a private chef cook for you or have a local chef prepare and deliver you meals for your stay. Don’t forget there’s the in-house facials, massages, yoga, sound bowl massage. It’s your holiday!

We are family-friendly because we are family. We have 3 young boys. We still love nice things. Our guests do too. So bring the kids along. We can provide cots, high chairs, child locks, fireguards and more. We’re here for you.

The location….were not far away in the middle of nowhere. We are in Quedjinup which lies exactly centre of the peninsula with Dunsborough town to the east (7 km) and Yallingup beach to the west (7 km) and first of the wineries only 8km away.

We are proudly LGBTI+ friendly and know that you are safe and more than welcome at Bina Maya.
