For the love of food in the Margaret River Region

Best food Margaret River region

My motto in life? I am here for the food (and the wine). For that reason, living in the heart of the countries best food and wine region makes my heart sing daily. The Margaret River region is a foodies dream come true. Seasonal produce, beautiful ethical meat, stunning restaurant views, with some of Australia’s best chefs to cook for us.

Because running a business and wrangling 3 young kids means life is crazy busy, we like to take some time away for all things food. Our favourites? So very hard to condense. I could list off around 20 winery restaurants in the Margaret River Region region to enjoy a long lazy wine filled lunch. Nonetheless, here’s our best Margaret River Region food picks.

Do yourself a favour, if you haven’t been to our good friend chef Seth James  2018 WA restaurant of the year Wills Domain go now, go yesterday but just go. Inspired by garden paddock and ocean, enjoy a feast style menu or their delectable taste menu for a more intimate, refined experience. Whats even better? Wills Domain is only 10 mins away from Bina Maya Yallingup Escape. Winning.

French bistro inspired, with a similar paddock to plate ethos, Amelia Park Restaurant is a delight. As someone who’s tried almost every steak tartar whilst traveling through France I can tell you, chef Blair’s take on the dish served with salted egg yolk will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Food heaven.

For something more casual, Goanna Cafe hits the brief every time. Not only does Duncan make the best breakfast in the South West, their ever changing lunch menu  serves up a delight of flavoursome food. Current menu loves? Pan fried gnocchi with fermented chorizo and, braised pork belly joy. Thanks to a special menu Duncan has prepared for Bina Maya guests we now offer meal on arrival at Bina Maya. Imagine, after a long days work, knowing all you need to do is jump in the car, make the trip down south and a chef prepared fragrant curry or slow cooked lamb shoulder will be waiting in your villa to heat up at your leisure. All the things yes.

But what special food events are coming up in the Margaret River Region? The ever fun Cabin Fever Festival is about to kick off this weekend and runs for two weekends until July 28th 2019. There’s an array of ticketed and free events happening around town. Our favourite from last year? Fondue by the fire at Howard park wines. Cambray cheesey oozy melty goodness alongside a dreamy Cabernet in front of a glorious fireplace.

Most importantly, time for the exciting news. Gourmet Escape tickets go on sale today!!! In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock, its the countries biggest and best food and wine festivals. Some big names are coming to the Margaret River Region again this year. These include David Chang from Momofuku and the brilliant Marco Pierre White. We’re still trying to decide which dinner to pick; its a hard one this year. So, in keeping with tradition, we’ll be at the village again eating all the food of course and attempting to try every single Chardonnay in the region. Certainty a hard life but someone’s got to do it.
