As school holidays approach, its time to plan a much-needed getaway. If you’re looking for a perfect destination that combines natural beauty, family-friendly activities, and delicious dining, and of course wine, look no further than the Margaret River Region. Thankfully you’ll be able to keep everyone happy with a plethora of options to keep both parents and kids entertained throughout the break.
Explore Enchanting Walking Trails
One of the region’s greatest treasures is its vast network of walking trails. Immerse yourself in nature as you wander through ancient forests and along coastal cliffs. The Cape to Cape Track is a must-visit, offering breathtaking vistas of the Indian Ocean and lush landscapes. For families with younger children, start at the section from Sugarloaf as a lot of the path is sealed.
A bit further a field is the stunning Boranup Karri Forest. The drive alone is worth the trip. Wildflowers are blooming everywhere this time of year; just remember to pack a picnic if you plan to do the walking trail! Staying more local to Yallingup, Bina Maya guests have some wonderful local bush trail options, simply view our digital compendium for details.
Go on a whale watching adventure
This is the time of year for whale watching and what a season we’ve had already! If you want to view them in the Bay simply park up at Point Picquet and look out for the splashes! For an up close and personal experience, visit our friends at Naturaliste Whale Watching. You’ll be scooped up at the nearby Quindalup beach and a truly breathtaking adventure. For Bina Maya guests be sure to ask for your discount code when booking.
Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities
The Southwest is teeming with family-friendly activities. Take a trip to Sunflowers Animal Farm and meet friendly farm animals, or explore the wonders of the Ngilgi Cave, where you can embark on an underground experience. For a bit more adventure, we love the local zipline course at Next Level Monkey Business. Great for all ages, and perfect for a cheeky beer at Clancys next door afterwards.
Wining and Dining
After all the excitement, treat your family’s taste buds to the region’s culinary delights. The Margaret River region is famous for its wineries, but it’s also a food lover’s paradise. There’s a huge range of options but our local shortlist is: Swings and Roundabouts, Beerfarm, Wildhop Brewery and Southcamp
