What’s on this Winter in the Margaret River Region

Winter is here, brrrrr. But what better place to spend it then the Margaret River Region. There are so many fantastic events happening in the region, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Movies and More in the Region

Who doesn’t love a good movie experience when the weather is a bit miserable. You’ll be delighted to know we have a few options now. We all know the fabulous Busselton Jetty is great for taking the little ones (especially on the train) and experiencing the under water observatory. This winter they now have a Marine Movie Experience.  Book a bean bag or a seat BYO blanket and enjoy some marine inspired documentaries. To sweeten the deal, they’ll include flavoured popcorn, pizza and Cape Mentelle Wine.  All in the comfort of the heated Ballaarat Room of Railway House.

For a bit of culture and movie experiences the Margaret River Heart have a great selection of events coming up including Taste of Ireland, kids movies during school holidays, and a variety of new movies as well as some great workshops. They have a bar (woohoo) and a kiosk to purchase snacks.

The award winning CinefestOZ Film Festival 2021 runs for 5 days on Aug 25th-29th and premieres feature films and events in the region’s cinemas and picturesque venues. Not to be missed.

Food: Winter in Margaret River

Sticking to my usual obsession…food and wine. But especially  in Winter in the Margaret River Region…Cabin Fever Festival 2021 kicks on on July 16-25. (Bina Maya is fully booked…sorry). Tickets are selling fast so get in quick to avoid disappointment. Ones to watch: This is Tiller; where our friends at the Tiller Farm cook a 5 course degustation over 2 nights (refined jazz or get up a boogie style). We also love fondue by the fire at Howard Park (because oozy cheese, wine and fire is everything).

Speaking of food, you’d be mad, mad I tells ya, not to visit the Margaret River Farmers market on Saturday morning. It literally is the mothership. All things locally produced and of course delicious. Go and fill that winter belly.

OK so one last food mention. Well this is what the Margaret River Region is all about for me.

Who doesn’t love truffles. You’ll be seeing them on menus everywhere. Hopefully you’re lucky enough to make it out to the Truffle Kerfuffle in Manjimup this year. But if not, as part of the WA Good Food Guide, Voyager are hosting the Truffles Unearthed Dining Series on Aug 14 and 15 2021. This 4 hours dining experience is all things truffles with beautiful Margaret River Region wines. It also includes a tour of the Voyager vineyard.

Looking for accommodation? Bina Maya is full in July but we have some availability in August. Get in touch if we can help you with a booking and stay warm this Winter.
